Public site
The public website
The public site is the shop’s own website. Pet parents never see the dashboard. Until you publish, the site is a private preview and search engines are not asked to index it.
Address and pages
The live address is yourname.petpages.ai. Until Publish, the top of the editor says Draft and the public address still shows a preview, not the finished site. A preview link is for you. It is not what you text to customers, and it is not what Google should index.
A typical menu is Home, Services, Book, About, and Contact. You can add pages and subpages in the editor, and hide a page from the menu without deleting it. Updates appears in the menu only after Show Updates on your website is on.
What is on every page
- The browser tab uses your logo. No logo means the shop initials, not the PetPages mark.
- The header is the shop name and the menu. Colors and type come from Look, so a change there shows up on every page.
- The footer is only the shop name, address, phone, public email, and hours. The longer story stays on About, where a person and a search engine can actually read it. Do not expect the footer to carry the about text.
Book page
Book is a request, not a confirmed visit. Submitting creates or updates the customer (same email means the same person) and opens a Pending appointment for this shop only. Someone on the team still has to confirm it.
The form is six parts. A pet parent cannot skip the required ones.
- 1. Your information — their name, email, and phone.
- 2. Location — which of your addresses, if the shop has more than one.
- 3. Your pets and services — at least one pet. Name, gender, and spayed or neutered are required. They also say whether the pet has allergies, and what those are if yes. They can add a photo; the form tries to identify the pet from it. Services are the ones you listed for the shop. They can add another pet on the same request.
- 4. Preferred date — a date, plus a preferred drop-off time window, plus a note such as a preferred groomer.
- 5. Vaccination records — optional files.
- 6. Verification — an image captcha, so a script cannot flood the book.
The home address is not on this form. Staff can add a mailing address later on the customer record. It stays private.
On a desktop Book page, a QR code sits above the phone number. Front desk can have a guest scan it and fill the form on their own phone. On a phone, that code is hidden, because they are already on the form.
Updates
Updates is not a blog you type into the website editor. It is the posts you explicitly added from AI Marketing. If the switch is off, pet parents do not see the page.
- The list is titles and dates. Each item is also a real address, so a search engine can open that post on its own.
- A click still opens a panel on the same page. Close is at the top. Photos sit under Close, shown whole, not cropped to a square. The title and text follow the photos.
- Taking a post off the website in AI Marketing removes it from this list. The draft stays in Studio.
Search
A published page gets its own title, description, and link preview. The site also publishes LocalBusiness details: name, address, phone, hours, and services. That is the HTML Google expects. It does not replace your Google Business Profile, and it does not guarantee a ranking. Wrong hours in the editor become wrong hours in that data, so fix them in Shop before you care about search.
yourname.petpages.ai works on day one. A custom domain is not a setting in the editor. Email support@petpages.ai and we will plan it with you.
